Professional Science Masters in Scientific Writing

The Professional Science Masters in Scientific Writing (PSM in Scientific Writing) is a two-year degree program hosted in the College of Science and Technology at Temple University. The program is designed to give students hands on training to enable them to develop expertise in writing related to the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students in the program work directly with faculty from the Temple College of Science and Technology and from the School of Media and Communications to obtain the skills necessary to meet the growing demand for individuals who are able to clearly and effectively communicate scientific information to a wide range of audiences. In addition to classroom based training, students in the program will complete a field-work based internship in an approved setting such as with a practicing scientist, a publishing company, a patent law office, pharmaceutical company, or other relevant location.

As the amount of available research funding has decreased, the need for individuals who can write convincingly and eloquently about data has accordingly intensified.

There are many advantages to our unique program:

  • Interdisciplinary approach with researchers across Temple University
  • Classes taught by our renowned tenure and tenure-track faculty
  • Hands-on training and development in the skills necessary to compete in today's changing world
  • Access to real-world independent research projects
  • The Scientific Writing program is an official affiliate program in Professional Science Master’s program, providing access and guidance to a larger PSM community.
